I spent a lot of time trying to work out what to do this evening. I had a few options. Parties, gatherings, fireworks. The problem with New Years Eve is that it's always so full of expectation of having an excellent night. And sometimes it is excellent but sometimes it's a real disappointment. Usually though, it has to do with expectations. If things go better than you expect, your NYE rocks. If they don't, it doesn't. If you want a quiet one and it's not quiet enough, or it's too quiet, your NYE sucks. If you want an awesome night out at a party or on the harbour but your friends are less fun than you hoped or your friends are having heaps of fun but they are somewhere else, you're let down.
Tomorrow my house mates come home. I've had the house to myself the past few days and it's been great. I've done a lot of sitting around, watching DVDs, sleeping and playing Xbox. I figured, I can just do more of that tonight. And it'll probably be exactly what I expect. The company probably won't do anything surprising, and I really do love having the house to myself. Expectations won't let me down.
So that's what I'm doing. I've watched a DVD, eaten butter chicken, read my Bible and prayed. Now I'm blogging (obviously), I might read soon, watch a DVD, who knows. I know it all sounds old and dull but so far it's been fun. I'm on holidays, so I'm gonna do what I want, and this is great.
On Wednesday I was talking to Lesley about what she was doing and she said she might just stay home. At the time the idea sounded appalling. However, it grew on me. Not that I don't like going out. But I don't like being let down, and for a night so full of expectation as NYE, I'm going to expect nothing, do not much, and probably come out on top. On the other hand, the flat could burn down, I could have a terrible accident and have my arm amputated by the DVD player and then the New Year's Eve will be a let down. So far, however, it's going well. Thanks Lesley.
Off Wale's album, "Attention Deficit". "SHADE" feat Chrisette Michelle was my favorite on the entire album for many reasons. First off I can really relate to what he is talking about. For years back in my D.C. days all I ever wanted was to talk to high yellow, caramel type of guys. Anyone darker then me got no type of love. Insecure about my complexion, I felt the lighter you are the more attention you got. Back then it seem like lighter girls got all the fine guys and got all the attention. So that was one reason dark guys kinda were off the market for me. Not only that, lighter guys showed me all the love in the world, which was odd, but they did. I was not a child that came from a home where name brand was popular. So Kmart, AMES (A D.C. store) and Salvation Army were my store labels. Being and chilling with people who had it like that made it even worse for me. I had to wear what I had and not complain. Then my brother started to work and since guy cloths was in, stealing his sneakers was my number one priority. To step up on my own I got a little job at my mothers Aunt's doctor's office, not to mention my daddy started to give me things and my other Brother (R.I.P) gave me things as well. No one could say shit to me after that. Light guys seem to be even easier to get, it was to the point I got what I want from their ass and moved the hell on. No explanation, no reason, not even a good buy! WHY? They thought they was all that and could not get hurt. So I felt I needed to prove them wrong.
Now almost 30, I LOVE my complexion and would not change it for nothing in the world. I am living a good life and can fetch for myself. It came to my surprise that I was using these dudes just because I was unhappy with who I was within. After growing confidence within my self I let the light thing go. I even married a man that is as dark as me. Not to mention most of the light guys ended up with so much kids and so many baby mamas! I am truly happy that I found myself and love the skin that I live in!!!
One day Wale will let me know if he still feels this way, because I don't!!!

I went to see Tron Legacy today with my Auntie. It was pretty awesome. It looked great. The 3D was as good as or better than Avatar. It wasn't obtrusive at all.
The opening credits were almost worth the price of the ticket along. But I love good opening credits. And what totally was worth the price of the ticket was the music by Daft Punk. It was great. The film could be an extended Daft Punk film clip. Plus it was nice to see their cameo.
The story was pretty silly. But it wasn't pretentious (unlike Avatar), it was just trying to be a whole lot of fun with a lot of cool stuff. And that it was.
Its so sad to hear that his twitter rumor ended up to be true. Mrs. Teena Marie was found dead by her daughter late Sunday in her California home according to her manager. Cause of death is still unknown, but another talented artist will be laid to rest!
Since as fare as I can remember I have always loved this black voice trapped in a white woman's body. Seeing her for the first time in my 29 years at Jazz in the Gardens 2010 here in Miami was the best ever. When I say Teena rocked it, she really rocked it. Working that stage and her guitar with that soulful voice. She gave me goose bumps every time she hit a note. I mean it felt like her record was playing, that's how good she sound. All I can say is, that was one white lady with a real soulful voice and real talent. May she rest in peace along with her main man Mr. Rick James!!

I really do not know how to feel about this. It is creative but freaky at the same time. Watching a bunch of men get excited about a barbie pageant. I firmly believe that creativity comes in many different ways. However I pray these men stick with the creative side and not the fantasizing side!

So to me people need to fall back and respect that the man has skills. You do not need to actually do certain things and live a certain life to rap about it. Last year I went on Sailing Camp and if you believe the revisionist history I'm currently revisionising, I became an expert sailor.
This year I went to speak on the same camp again. And despite my brilliant skills of sailing, I didn't manage to sail once. Which seems a little like going to Africa and not going on safari, which I also did. I did want to go sailing, but things got in the way. Like on the first day I canoed because there wasn't enough room on the boats. The second day I was doing canoeing again, but then a kid cut his finger on an oyster. I was tasked with ambulance driving, so another leader and I spent 4 hours in Wyong hospital with him. In the end he didn't even get a stitch, it was a little disappointing. We did get to eat McDonalds though, so we'll call it even.
The next day I took a girl to the medical centre to get a tetanus shot after she was also attacked by an oyster, which meant I didn't sail that day either. On the last two days of sailing, I stayed on land because they needed extra leaders there. So the lack of sailing was a little sad, I enjoy sitting out on those boats. Especially on the hot days.
Despite the lack of nautical adventures, I did have a pretty good camp. There were almost 70 kids on the camp which made it almost at capacity. I had trouble getting to meet all the kids. Still they all met me. One of the things about being speaker is that everyone feels like they know you better than you feel like you know them and it's probably true. So hopefully people felt like I had interacted with them even if I hadn't got to do it much face to face.
Best of all about the camp was that there were 12 kids who put up their hands to say they became Christians after the talks. I'm pretty sure it was a worthwhile camp.
So when I said I'd elaborate tomorrow, I may have been a little over ambitious.
I will however begin the elaboration.
One of the places I preached in the last two weeks was at a work function for a bunch of different organisations that do similar ministry to my work. My boss and some colleagues were there. I was doing an extended version of my sermon from Romans 8. Anyway I start off with some dodgy preaching about how God works everything for good. So losing a job means getting a new and better one. Having a car break down, means getting a new and better one. Divorcing a spouse means getting a new and better one. And if we are more than conquerors we can beat sickness, and financial hardship and even death!
And then I pause to say "I hope some of you are getting a little uncomfortable."
Except I paused and someone in the audience shouted "Woohoo!"
It was a little awkward, seeing as I was about to explain how everything I had just said was wrong.
Still I moved on and did what I needed to do. Hopefully the person didn't feel too jipped that I tricked them into woohooing.
The past two weeks have been massive. I've done 10 different talks, been on a camp, hung out in a hospital, helped do some house moving, had a party, opened my HSC results and seen 12 people become Christians. Awesome, but huge.
I'll elaborate more tomorrow. But for now, just thought I'd check in.

I came across this artist on Soul Bounce and automatically felt the vibe of singer/songwriter Kriss Mincey. Hard to get that now a days, but when it does happen you just have to take advantage of it. Merging jazz and hip-hop Kriss Mincey poetic soulful voice keeps you in one of those lets vibe mode. Kriss Mincey released her debut, Scratch n' Riff: The Vintage Brand Mixtape, today for free via her Bandcamp page, which I took advantage of and I think you should do the same. Legendary music producer Phil Spector’s appeal from a Los Angeles murder conviction rendered in what many—including this blog—believe was a prejudicial trial atmosphere flowing from a parade of irrelevant prior paramours (who sold their sensational stories to the tabloids before testifying) and related prosecutorial misconduct—is still winding itself through the California Court of Appeal.
But Spector advanced another step closer to freedom yesterday with his filing of the final reply brief in the music great’s appeal.
We will have more on this later—we just obtained Phil Spector’s final plea minutes ago—but offer the brief up for you edification and comment.

We have now read through Spector's final reply and we are reminded of the Joe Lewis vs. Max Schmeling fight #2--it's one sided, and it's a complete route.
As initially reported here, and as the AG later conceded in a hastily filed "errata" filed days after our initial post concerning the AG brief pointing out some "rookie mistakes", the AG apparently delegated this appeal to an inexperienced lawyer, whose faulty analysis infected the People's brief from start to finish.
The People's Evidence Code analysis of the admission of Judge Fidler's testimony from trial #1 in trial #2 was particularly flawed, and we predict that it will result in a reversal of this wrongful conviction.
But that is not all. The People, through their fact-intensive "harmless error" analysis of the evidence (essentially, the argument that all the evidence favors a conviction, so Spector would have been convicted with or without the error complained of) apply the wrong standard of review.
While in many an appeal context the courts are required to accept the prosecution's interpretation of the trial facts (giving "deference" the the implied findings by the jury)--in analyzing whether or not alleged error by the trial court is "prejudicial", the deferential standard does not apply.
Rather, an appellate court is required in cases such as this to consider all of the evidence (including that favoring an acquittal) in assessing whether or not justice miscarried. This the AG failed to do.
Another costly, blunder!
Not only a brief that pays due deference to the written expression at its finest, this is a brief that not only sings--it takes full advantage of an AG brief riddled with legal and tactical errors.
This case is going to be reversed, we feel it.

In October Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey announced that they was expecting their first child, but Cannon reveals Carey was hesitant to go public – because they had already lost one baby shortly after their marriage in 2008. After loosing a baby, especially if you really wanted one, is not easy for no one. That second, third or fourth time it gets harder and harder to tell anyone. So much goes threw your head that telling anyone may be that one risk you are taking. That is just how some superstitious, soon to be mothers who has had a miscarriage feels. Even those who have tried so long and finally gets pregnant. I use to be in that boat. At the time of wanting a child, it was for all the wrong reasons. I won't call them wrong it just was not the right time. So the one time I finally stop trying, it FINALLY happen and when it did I was shocked more then anything. It took two test and that heart beat to make me really realize I had a little one brewing in the oven. I did everything right, I tried my hardest to avoid telling negative people, because my fear was they may wish bad on me. A year and 1 month later my handsome son arrived and the feeling was unexplainable.
So now I tell people do not fear, because when it is your time it is your time and if that child is suppose to come they will!

It's been rumored that the two have been on a few dates. I think they look cute together! Brandy also looks happy, that smile ain't no friend smile. That smile is a blushing I like you smile. But who knows they can just be friends or just a little gimmick to let people think Brandy is NOT an unhappy lonely female, seeking love! The City of Miami Gardens does again for 2011! Just as I thought it could not get any better then 2010, they wowed me with another amazing line up for 2011. Jazz in the Gardens 2011 includes Ms. Lauryn Hill, Charlie Wilson, Gladys Knight, En Vogue, Jazmine Sullivan, El DeBarge, Al Jarreau, Lala Hathaway, Bradford Marsalis, Doug E Fresh and Slick Rick “The Ruler!” Yes I said Doug E Fresh and Slick Rick “The Ruler" will be hitting the stage of Sun Life Stadium March 19th & 20, 2011. Don’t hold your breathe, because with this amazing line up, lord only knows who else is going to be added to one of South Florida’s Soulful concert of the year!

A lot of people sleeps on Kid Sister flow, which by the way is Sick. This track won't bring her to main stream, but will give her a buzz over seas, were music is really appreciated. R. Kelly paid a visit to NBC’s Studio 6B in Rockefeller Centre last night to perform his latest single, “When A Woman Loves,” on Jimmy Fallon late night show. This performance is similar to his opening at the Soul Train Awards, which was Hot to me! Trying his hardest to revive his music and name R. Kelly is putting in some overtime. I really hated the single, um whats the name of it? You know the bullshit one featuring Kerri "try to hard" Hilson. I don't even remember the name, that's how wake it was in my opioion!
It's kinda shocking to see him pop up out of the blue on the main stream end! He has been Missing in Action for a while, well since his trail. He tried to come back with an album, which I didn't even take the time to listen to because from the reviews it was a R.Kelly let down. Now that Trey Songz done scooped up his spot, I pray he stays out of the Lil Kim angry mood and focus on his true fans that love him no matter what! Since most of his real target audience is over 25+ let's see if he can bring the taseful R.kelly back to focus on that target market!

Rocking them Lime green tights with her blonde, blue and green weave-a-liscious hair and fitted dress to match; I got to give it to Nicki her performances are getting better. When it comes to performing trust it is not an easy task! From the club to stadiums, yeah it’s going to be a transition for Ms. Nicki to get use too.
This track "Moment 4 Life” is the second track I love off the "Pink Friday" album. The lyrics expresses that she wishes this moment she is experiencing right now, can last for life. Which everyone knows that you can be hot today and washed up tomorrow? You can be alive, but not everybody lives is a true statement, BECAUSE a lot of people today especially in these times are her living and breathing, but are not able to do the things they truely love! You are who you are at this moment, so living your life to the fullest and fulfilling your dreams is a must! You have to fight thru blood, sweat and tears to get there most of the time. Sometimes you realize that career path is not for you, but that does not mean you have to give up! Its just means you have to take another direction god laid out for you in this life time. Live in the moment especially when you get there, because that moment can last 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 years or 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, minutes!
In Bible study tonight, while looking at Colossians 2:4 ("I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments"), we made a list of the all the different types of teachings and "fine sounding arguments" that might lead the church astray.
Of the ones I can remember, they were:
Jesus is not the only way to God
The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are three separate gods
How can a good God exist when there is so much suffering the world?
Jesus is not God, God does not exist, Jesus was just a good man
Jesus didn't physically rise from the dead
God did not create the world, a big bang did
There is no absolute truth
The Bible is a book written in a specific culture and therefore not eternally relevant
The Bible is not God's revelation, it is not inerrant, it is just a book
God is unknowable
Religion has been the cause of too much evil in the world
Jesus was not the messiah
You can be saved through being good
We were then asked which ones we struggled with, or had struggled with. I don't know about the answers of the rest of the group, but my answer was all of them. At some stage or another I've wrestled with all of them. If I'm honest, some of them pop up regularly. I can't even say I've satisfactorally solved them all for myself. Jesus, however, is consistantly greater than any question.
If you asked me what questions I regularly ask, it'd be these:
Does God actually exist?
Was Jesus actually God?
Would God really reveal himself through the Bible?
Is Christianity the only true faith?
The rest are just sometimes questions.
What questions do you ask? How often do you find yourself asking questions? What answers have you found?
There are many things I love about my church. But perhaps the sign that I go to the perfect church is that my church has a continuing love affair with Hornsby's most delicious eatery, Chef's Lucky Noodle.
The last that you all heard, I was on my way down to Melbourne to watch U2. I was going because I'm on camp in a week which is when U2 is in Sydney and I love U2 so much I didn't want to miss them.
It was also an excellent opportunity to hang out with David and Andreana. I was especially looking forward to hanging out with Andreana because I feel like I don't know her very well. And seeing as she's marrying one of my oldest friends, I reckon like I should at least know a little of who she is. I learnt that she works in a uni and quite likes rain coats, so I feel it was a successful fact finding mission.
I was worried it would be rainy, and Melbourne did its best to meet expectations. I arrived in wet Melbourne after a reasonably normal plane flight. I did sit next to a girl on the plane and I thought "Maybe we will have a conversation and fall in love", but then I found out she lived in Melbourne and wasn't that keen on U2 - two strikes, she's out.
I met David once I hopped off the airport bus, we checked the line at Etihad Stadium and decided it'd be too hard to sneak Andreana in, plus we'd get wet and miserable, so we left to watch a movie. We watched Due Date which was funny, but not amazing. It won't change your life.
Soon it was time to get Andreana from her work that the cathedral of learnings, so we bought some creepy $9 raincoats and went and found her.
We lined up at the stadium for about 45 minutes I reckon, and then we were let in. It was pretty easy. Once in, we got ourselves a spot about 10 meters from the stage's second catwalk. Not bad for turning up at 4:30pm. I reckon it was around then the rain let up, and we were dry for the rest of the night.

Inside the stadium there was just a lot more waiting to be done. Eventually we were given a countdown till Jay-Z, the support act. That was a nice touch. Everyone loves an over sized clock.
Jay-Z was superb. I've never been a big fan, but I always knew he had talent. Watching him and his band was pretty awesome. His band were tight, and brought the funk, and he knew how to engage the crowd. He was massively better than Kanye supporting U2 in '06. I reckon I might even get an album. If you're going to see U2 in Sydney, get his best of before you go, you'll thank yourself.
Once he was done it was back to more waiting.
Counting down
Finally the second countdown clock we were shown dramatically fell apart, Bowie got piped though the stadium and U2 arrived on stage to masses of sound and lights. The stage is huge. They call it the claw. It is quite impressive. It's looking a little tired, like it's been around the world, which it has. But they utilise the space well, every part of it plays a function throughout the show. Lights, smoke, tv, everywhere. Special.
The band were in good form. Although, I am such a fan, I'd probably always think they played well. They did many of the classics you'd expect from a U2 concert. Until the End of the World was fantastic, with it's usual sense of theatrics, which also made me wonder about whether or not U2 think Judas was saved. They did a fantastic rearrangement of I'll go Crazy if I don't go Crazy Tonight. Plenty of drums and bass. Jay-z was brought out for Sunday Bloody Sunday, who added a nice rap interlude, but meant that we couldn't pump out fists and shout "No more!". Bono did talk to us about AIDS and Burma but the show was pretty light on for politics, compared to say, the Vertigo tour.
I think my favourite moment of the night was I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. People have often said going to a U2 concert is a spiritual experience, and it is. In this song I had one of the most significant musical worship moments I've had this year, certainly the most significant I've ever had at a concert. I was there, arm outstretched, eyes closed, singing loud. It feels a little odd singing a gospel song with thousands of others knowing that most people are not singing to Jesus, but it still feels good. I was quite happily then more in awe of Jesus than I was of any rock band, even if I was watching the greatest rock band in the world.
It certainly was a concert worth going to. And going to Melbourne and hanging out with David and Andreana was a trip worth doing. Hooray for being rich and being able to enjoy these many undeserved blessings.

Ok so I went to the mall and decided to stop in Macy's as I am walking I walk past MAC and decided to try Nicki's Lipstick. I already new that shit would not look good on me, but I had to see for myself. For my tone it definitely was a HELL NO, so I put it back and went on my marry way!! Well YES AAries has a new track called "Don't Give It Up." This track is their tribute to the beautiful music that Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones and Rod Temperton made! Finally being release from a chock hold label that basically shelved them, AAries is back and independently releasing music on their own. Which in these days is the best way for real Artist that does not want to be over shadowed by no talented people? I came across this artist on Soul Bounce and automatically felt the vibe of singer/songwriter Kriss Mincey. Hard to get that now a days, but when it does happen you just have to take advantage of it. Merging jazz and hip-hop Kriss Mincey poetic soulful voice keeps you in one of those lets vibe mode. Kriss Mincey released her debut, Scratch n' Riff: The Vintage Brand Mixtape, today for free via her Bandcamp page, which I took advantage of and I think you should do the same. Man as much as I use to love Puff and the entire Bad Boy Movement (Notorious B.I.G) back in the 90’s. Yes I am one of those people who HATE’S the new Diddy; I can not knock his hustle at all. The man does not stop, but like he always say’s “Can’t stop, won’t stop” he surely is living up to it! Don’t get me wrong I use to be obsessed with the Entire Bad Boy Entertainment, but watching Diddy over the years, ESPECIALLY after BIG DIED I was unhappy with him. I am sure he don’t give to shits, but as much as a fan I was by buying all those cassettes, all those magazines and even went as fare as writing the label to stress how much I loved them; his ass should. Yeah and I still got the letter as proof, wait and see!
