Are you ready for SoFlo Dance hall Awards 2011?

The success of the SoFlo Dance hall Awards has shown us many reasons on why, it must continue. Reggae music is the root of numerous of music we listen too today. A lot of people won’t know this, but Hip-Hop is a branch off of Reggae. If you got a musical ear you will feel what I am saying. Time after time again our Jamaican artist have been signed and shelved because of the “I don’t know how to market this person” quote. But yet numerous of dance moves, lyrics, fashion styles, producers, writers, hair stylist and even slang have came from the Reggae culture. Which seems to always be taken, over looked or left in the shadows?

Is it time for a change? Yes
Who can make that change? “You Can”

By attending the SoFlo Dance hall Awards on March 20, 2011 at the Hollywood Central Performing Arts Theater can be the first major step to make this change. This event represents Dance hall/Reggae inside and out, from the Stylish Taste Makers, Caribbean Cuisine, Artist, Hair Stylist, Disc Jockey’s (DJ’s), Parties, Stage shows right down to the 100&1 party sites that have made a tremendous statement world wide. Single Mothers of America has taken the first major step to rep not only South Florida, but Dance hall Reggae & Caribbean music in a whole.

Just last year one of South Florida’s top trend setters was suddenly taken. He was one person who really seen the bigger picture and did everything in his power to make that change. The one change that never seems to make an adjustment is the separations of ghetto (garrison) and high class (uptown) or even the separation of crews. Which is (to me) the second reason Dance hall seems to be at a stand still. With no fuss or fight everyone came together to celebrate the life of a real trendsetter. A man who always wanted to get everyone from every angle of the Dance hall/Caribbean scene all in one venue FINALLY happen. Sad it took a tragedy for it to happen, but it truly showed that it is possible. This type of love is something that needs to happen more often, because the last time I checked there is enough to go around.

Coming out to judge & criticize is no way to support the show, which is the #1 reason Jamaican events, especially Dance hall never seem to make it no where. So instead of criticizing, send your opinion and thoughts to southfloridadancehallawards@gmail.com Everything has it's up and downs, but with the support of the Caribbean people world wide, this vision can become even bigger.

Support the movement, support the case, and support the Caribbean Dance hall and all!
