Belieber

I have yet to go watch the Justin Bieber movie, I'll probably do it on Monday. However I have decided to be pro-Beiber, I probably won't enjoy the movie, but I don't think that should make me anti-Bieber. If I was discovered and given the opportunity to become a pop sensation when I was 14, I would have taken it. Bieber is just doing what anyone his age would do. And he hasn't done anything offensive, he hasn't been arrogant and talked himself up, he hasn't made racist or sexist music or remarks. He's been pretty innocuous really.

So I see no reason to have strong feelings about Bieber either way. But since so many people hate him so much, I'm going to like him. Go Bieber.

Erin Christine - "For you Love" is HOT!

When you hear Erin Christine you automatically think to place her into the Pop Box, but guess what this one right here will blow it up with this track. This Hall of Fame Abe Oleman scholarship winner for Excellence in Songwriting, Erin Christine did her track “For Your Love” justice. The passion in her voice just moves you and by looking at her I really can say I did not expect it. I know I know I am racial profiling, but hey you normally don’t get this kind of R&B passion from an Erin Christine, I’m just saying. Well the track is hot and so are the two other samples called “Naked” and “Say!” Produced by Jay Omen Brown & Black Jacka, you can find this track “For Your Love” on Erin Christine Album: Green Lights.

Ludacris and Untitled Pour's out a Lil Liquor for you!

The DTP Pres Mr. Ludacris is back with his new group called “Untitled.” Took some time since he and Bobby V. parted was, which was disappointing, but is the Entertainment Life style. “When shit can’t be fix you move on to the next,” is the way people should put it. So he blessed the game with Untitled the new boy trio. Untitled, official single titled "Pour out a Lil Liquor," features the one and only Luda. Normally people pours liquor for someone who passes, well in Untitled case, they empty a bottle for love. Which makes a lot of damn sense since Love can drive people crazy. I took some time to listen to their music and with Luda’s help I can see these guys making moves. So fare their music is good and some are even sexy. When I say sexy, yes they got some panty dropping music. I can feel that R&B steaming from the trio, but I won’t get too excited till the album drops. WHY, because we all know by now that mix tapes are 99% better then the commercial ish! So we shall see what “Untitled” has to offer, but so fare so good!

Miguel Let's it be known that the - Pu**y is His!

Miguel must have some good ass Pu**y around him, because the man is sprung off of it. Miguel recently went into the booth to freestyle and create this aggressive track called "Pu**y Is Mine." Now you tell me if he isn't getting some good good for him to roll out of bed, right into the booth to make this track. I swear the man making me want to see him more and more, just to say, “Miguel it is yours!” LMAO nah he too short, but for real his music is so damn sexy. I LOOOVEEE this mini 2:27 minute track that expresses how he feel about Pu**y! It just shows other man that they are not alone and it’s ok to be sprung; tell her that Pu**y is yours. Hell T-Pain did it and that ish blew through the roof! Is this on his album, no but maybe on his next one? I just want more tracks like this so me and Miguel can always be real good friends.

So if you missed the post before Check out "Pu**y is Mine" by Miguel

Speed of the Devil

People don't have the slightest idea of just how hard it is to break somebody's jaw or eye socket. They think it's just the power. But it's the accuracy of the power. Every punch is thrown with bad intention and the speed of the devil. - Mike Tyson in Tyson

Is Diamond wrong for moving on?

So it was said that Mama D Lil Scrappy’s mother went off on Hot 107.9 radio station on Diamond calling her a “Low down Dirty Bitch" because she was out and about with Soulja Boy. While her ex-fiance Lil Scrappy face charges, they had broken up and he wished her well, which is normal for a man to do if he is not selfish. However dear Mama did not like it too much and she calls th Dirty Boyz and tells them this:

Okay, the b***h done got breast implants and booty shots, the b***h ain’t real first of all. Secondly, Soulja boy is gonna come behind him anyway. So at the end of the day Scrappy is chilling, he’s fine, he’s the Prince of the South and he got it good. He’s living good and he ain’t thinking about that b***h…dirty low down b***h.

Dirty Boyz: Why did she lie like that?
She lied like a motherf**ker! Called Scrappy back, talking about I was just hanging out with him. Whooooooo! I want to put my hand around that b***h throat. I want you to go on the radio and say “Mama D is angry because you don’t mess with Mama D son.” But you know what ladies and gentlemen? Her son is doing good. The Prince of the South is still the reigning prince because he’s chill like that, he’s gonna keep it pimpin’.

It’s f’d up how she did it…low down dirty b*tch. She’s lucky I don’t take [inaudible] and pimp her azz. She gonna give it up like that, she might as well get some money for it hoe. Scrappy, Mama D, we gonna keep it G, ya heard me? Let the radio know that Scrappy the Prince of the South is still the reigning Prince and he’s chilling on South Beach, okay, with a beautiful lady. He ain’t stunting that sh*t there, he’s all good.

Now I am not sure why Mama D went off, but I guess the fact that she bounced was upsetting! Why is it such a shock, Diamond gotta eat and if Scrappy aint providing then a girl gotta do what she gotta do. There’s not much loyalty for men who go to jail now a days unless you Tiny. But if a man says to move on well dammit, she a female with needs she’s going to move on. Now if this convo between her and Scrappy happened yesterday then Mama has all right to blast her ass. But I am sure it did not! For any women who had a man who went uptown would know not to tell the entire truth about what you doing, because all it does is mess with their head. Scrappy a big boy, he know the deal. This is a women in the game she is going to date another celebrity, so Mama need to chill.

Man I think it's so funny how all these celebrity mom’s getting into all this mess. Like they always say, “You can take a person out the hood, but you can’t take the hood out of a person”

Rich Girl wants to know "Can U Afford Me or them?"

Since Destiny’s child put a chock hold on Girl groups, it seems like none made it since they retired. I have seen girl groups come and go, but this group seems to be determined. Rich Girl released a new single called - 'Can U Afford Me' and quiet frankly I think the track is hot. I remember them from their first single ‘He Ain't Wit Me Now,’ which was a real girly anthem, but got no real recognition.  On this track Rich Girl brings a cooler mello feel to ask whether a man has enough to support them.  Now before you (MEN) get all jumpy listen and appreciate the words on WHY you may not be able to afford  Rich Girl.

Rich Girl - "Can U Afford Me."

Lil Mo get's you 'On the Floor'

It took some time but she is FINALLY back. This is Lil Mo's first song since 2007 called "On the Floor." The track will appear on her third studio album 'P.S. I Love, Me,’ which is due out this year. This is a track is a club banger for sure. My first time playing it I was like Blah, but hearing it again in my car I had a change of heart. As always Lil Mo delivers from back then til now, but my question is can she fit in? For some reason a lot of Old school artist are coming out this year. Can real music be revived? Let’s hope so! I am just glad she kept her NY flavor and did not jump on the Southern band wagon. Well so fare from what I heard she didn’t and I have faith she will keep it that way.

Stopover

I'm currently at home, in the lounge terminal. On a stopover between Soul Survivor Conference and Byron Bay Blues and Roots festival. In 30 minutes my train leaves to take me to the airport.

Soul was awesome. Two kids in my youth group became Christians! Woot!

More later (if you're lucky).

Blues and Roots promises to be fun but probably with less Jesus.

Les Nubians reps for all the Natural hair people with ‘Afro Dance’

Who remembers the R&B Grammy-nominated sister duo Hélène and Célia Faussart from Paris, France called Les Nubians? I do and I am happy to announce their NEW ALBUM, “Nü Revolution” is available everywhere NOW!

Their single ‘Afro Dance’ is the perfect single for those who are natural or want to become natural or has been natural and fell back in love with a perm. Their all natural style and grace gives you a boost to want to run and chop off any perm on your head. In this video 'Afro Dance' they show case beauty with natural hair. From light to dark, to big and small, to dreads and twist; flashing frame to frame, Les Nubian embraces natural hair.

Check out video with Les Nubian called 'Afro Dance'

I became a fan from way back; I mean way back to their remake of Sade’s ‘Sweetest Tabu’ feat Black thought of the Roots. Even though half of the song was in French, the sweet vibration of their voices made me really vibe with not only the remake, but with the duo themselves. I never thought I can sit and listen to a group without knowing what the hell they saying, but Les Nubian got me.

If you need a little reminder of Les Nubians ft Black Thought of the Roots – Tabou check it out below

Tory Lanez feat. Bun B 'Slept On You' gets a A+ from me.....

So as you know Sean Kingston branched out and started his new label T.I.M.E. IS MONEY ENT.. Right now his artist by the name of Tory Lanez is getting a big buzz and too me he sounds really good. One thing that knocks him down is the fact that he sounds way too much like Drake I am sorry. To make it worst he is from Toronto, Canada. Man I know it must be annoying to keep hearing that, but hey truth hurts. Thank god for Kardinal Offishall, because if he was not a great artist with a different sound you would think all the Canadian artist sound like Drake.

Anyhow I am really feeling this new track by Tory feat Bun B. called ‘Slept on You.’ The beat is hot, the lyrics are hot and he does not sound too commercial. I like his flow, but once again it throws me off because he sounds like Drake. Hell for all we know Drake probably sounds like him, in this game it’s about who buss first. Don’t get me wrong Tory had a little buzz, but this track right here is bring him to another level commercially. Tory’s other music doesn’t sound bad neither and he kinda escapes from Drake’s path. I gues we just got to see when his album drops.

To go from nothing to something I got to say, big up to little big teddy Sean Kingston for this deal right here. I feel this was a good move and I pray they keep on moving forward.

WOMAN INJURES HERSELF CLAPPING, SUES "CLAPPER" INVENTOR

Once again we feel compelled to repeat our slogan “we don’t’ make this stuff up”, nor could we.

You all know that annoying late-night commercial for that ridiculous device you cannot imagine anyone ordering, the one where you can clap on and off the nightstand lamp (instead of just reaching over and twisting the switch), also known as “The Clapper”?

It seems that an elderly New York woman named Edna Hubbs clapped a little too enthusiastically trying to get the frick’n lamp to turn-off already, and the poor dear aggravated her arthritis.

I mean, who knew that if you repeatedly slap your hands together hard enough it might actually hurt?

Naturally her attorney sued the Clapper’s inventors.

Alas, a New York Court of appeal panel said “clap-off” to this bogus lawsuit.

Sade 'I Would Have Never Guessed'

May 3rd is a special day because Sade drops her album and so does Musiq Soul Child. 'The Ultimate Collection' is he second album since her latest release 'Soldier of Love.' Another track from the album called 'I Would Have Never Guessed' has been leaked of course and I am loving it. Sade still gots it!

If you in MIA, Sade will be hitting the stageSaturday Jul 16th, 2011 at the American Airlines Arena with John Legend.

I am Loving Keyshia Cole - 'Take Me Away'

I really love Keyshia Cole's new single 'Take me Away.' It took time for 'I ain't Threw' to grow on me, but it did and 'Long Way Down' I still don't like, but this track right here is the ish. Yesterday the official video dropped on BET and as fare as the video goes, it was very cute and joyful. You can always tell when a female loves a new man, because Keyshia looks extra bubbly in this video. I mean the girl dancing and all, which is something we barely see from her. If you missed it check it out. Go Keyshia you saved yourself with this new single 'Take me Away!'

Ryan Leslie goes in on 'Glory' Watch Video

My fellow D.C. Fam Ryan Leslie released a painted picture of his true feelings in “Glory,” off his upcoming album, “Les Is More,”, which will drop July 4th, 2011. Being one of the music games talented artists he to me has always been underrated and over looked. Now I guess he is tired of it, because he expresses it in this new ‘Black and White’ video of ‘Glory.’

Watch Video here

Estelle Feat. Rick Ross 'Break My Heart' I don't know about this one?

Estelle is back with some new music featuring Mr. Ross the Boss himself and so fare I am not feeling it. This track did not pop like her first single 'American Boy' feat. Kanye West. To me those two match, Rick Ross ah not to well to me. For some reason Rick has been on this signing real artist such as Wale and Teedra Moses, so maybe he is on a Neo journey at this moment.

The single 'Break My Heart' will appear on Estelle's forthcoming album 'All of Me.’ I am PRAYING for the best because as for now this single does not move me. Check back later on I may have a change of heart. Judge for yourself everyone’s musical ear is totally different.

SECOND TEEN IN A MONTH SURVIVES GG BRIDGE PLUNGE

We posted here about the Windsor High School student on a March, 2011 field trip to the Golden Gate Bridge who boasted to fellow classmates of his bridge jumping prowess, then when questioned made the leap few survive—pulled out of the water by an ageing surfer with nothing more severe that a stern lecture.

Now Reuters brings us a second teen, this time a 16 year old girl who made the leap and survived today—in April of 2011--barely one month later!

Reported the news service:

“The teen was found "conscious and responsive" beneath the suspension bridge at about 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, said U.S. Coast Guard spokesman Levi Read.”. "Normally when we're talking about a jumper from the Golden Gate Bridge, the numbers show it's not a high probability that they're going to survive," Read said.
That is an understatement; over 98% of all bridge jumpers die on impact—the distance mid-span from roadway to water is 270 feet, figure 10 feet per floor, or the equivalent of a jump from the 27th floor of a building.

At this height water begins to resemble concrete more than water.

Contrast the world record professional high dives:

The world record for the highest dive into water is held by, depending on who you ask, Dana Kunze (172 feet and walked away) or Oliver Favre (177 feet but broke his back.) Not taking air resistance into account, their velocity on impact would have been 72 or 73 miles per hour.

And now this update to the story:

An Alamo family out for a weekend sail found the teen jumper in the water and pulled her to safety. reports the San Jose Mercury News.

Their first thought was that they had spotted a whale breaching the water. However, they then saw the usually happy, waving pedestrian crowd on the bridge pointing to the water. What they found was a 16-year-old girl, an unconscious, bloodied bridge jumper who they helped keep afloat until professional rescuers arrived.

California Highway Patrol spokesman Patrick Roth said the girl, whose name is not being released, is from Southern California and was with family on vacation when she handed her sister a diary that contained a suicide note. Details weren't available on the circumstances immediately before, but then she jumped.

Roth said the girl did not break any bones, but she did suffer a punctured lung, bruised back and internal bleeding. She is expected to survive -- one of a very small percentage of people to survive the 220-foot drop.

Last year, 32 people committed suicide by jumping off the bridge, according to the Associated Press. Jumpers who are not killed on impact often drown after suffering severe internal injuries and broken bones. Only about 2 percent survive, statistics show.

We have heard it takes a perfectly controlled feet first dive, but at just steep enough of an angle that you don’t go too deep and drown.

Our bottom line: Don’t.

LET’S ALL JUST REFLECT A MOMENT SHALL WE?

KeKe Wyatt and Ruben Studdard remakes 'Saturday Love'

Keke Wyatt who re-did the all time classic “My First Love” and "Nothing in This World," with singer Avant, has released a new single with Ruben Studdardcalled "Saturday Love.” I can not say it makes me feel like the original done by Alexander O'Neal & Cherelle's, but its good enough for that summer time BBQ’s. To me the track sounds rushed and has no real chemistry. I mean from the Keke back in the day, I thought I would hear more harmonies, but I got nothing. I am happy they are both back, but this is something that would have to grow on me.

This will be KeKe third release since her debut album 'Soul Sista' in 2001 and I can not wait to hear what she got!

Check out to “Saturday Love” by KeKe Wyatt and Ruben Studdard

Check out behind the scene footage from the new video “Saturday Love.” Gotta say both Keke and Ruben are looking good!

Loving this new track from Rock City called 'Freak her to Keep her'

Now I have been following brothers Timothy and Theron Thomas R&B singing, rapping and songwriting duo, Rock City for a while now. I became a fan when I first heard their single ‘Losin it’ like 2 years ago. With Akon backing them I thought I would have seen more of them, but for some reason I didn’t. I can not tell you why or what happen with the duo, but all I know is that I am feeling this new single 'Freak Her to Keep Her.' Since this is something a lot of men forget to do, maybe a little note taking would be good “Right about NOW!”

My question to Rock City is, when is the Album coming out? When it does I hope and pray that you have more tracks like this for the ladies! The skills on the two are off the hook and I hope this time around others will appreciate my fellow Caribbean duo.

Jessie J’s album droped today!! I SWEAR you gotta love the UK

Straight out of the UK comes another talented artist by the name of Jessie J. The official music video for Jessie J's single "Price Tag" featuring B.o.B, from her forthcoming album "Who You Are". I am still browsing through to get a feel, but from what I have heard so fare this is a hot ass CD! My ring tone for while has been "Nobody's Perfect," because this song explains a lot about me. The lyrics are raw and the energy she puts in the song makes me get goose bumps as I sit back and reflect. The track I am feeling now is "Do it like a Dude," another all time female anthem letting men know we can do it "Like the man dem!" I just LOVE UK artist especially artist like Jessie J. She speaks the truth and speaks about things that make nothing but sense for women. Which to me comes from a lot of the UK artist. So get this new album by Jessie, which has been out in the UK since February 25. As always we are so behind on good music, but guess what its not too late!!! So go get it!

SPECTOR ORAL ARGUMENTS TODAY: JUSTICE ALDRICH APPEARS HOSTILE TO SPECTOR APPEAL, KLINE SYMPATHETIC, KITCHING AN ENIGMA

Justice Aldrich of the three judge panel that will decide Spector appeal ***BREAKING NEWS***** Los Angeles, CA We asked a person attending the oral arguments in the Spector appeal this morning to email us with their impressions for the one hour hearing. Here are the highlights from our field report: Justice Aldrich took the lead in questioning by the three justice panel and appeared hostile to Spector’s grounds for appeal. According to our informant: “Justice Aldrich really pounded the appellate. He told Dennis Riordan that the cases cited in the appeal briefs didn't relate to this one.” Apparently, the major points focused on by the court were the Jaime Lintermoot and Judge Fidler testimony regarding the blood spatter, the Ewoldt case regarding the standards for admissibility of the testimony of the five women regarding prior gun brandishing incidents. Dennis Riordan was described a “passionate Presiding Justice Klein (who was appointed to the court of appeal by Jerry Brown in 1978) seemed the most sympathetic to Spector’s arguments that the testimony of the five women was prejudicial. According to our source at the hearing, Justice Kitching said very little. Our source also said:
“The AG brought up the Doctrine of Chances to which Dennis stated on rebuttal it was not admissible. He continued to point out that there was no evidence of forcing the gun, no gun in mouth, and no evidence of anger at Lana Clarkson this was in regard to Doctrine of Chances. The AG was arguing that it was only a matter of time that something like this would happen because according to these women this is what he did.”
The bottom line, according to our source:
Aldrich did ask the AG how the “doctrine of chances theory” differed from plain old character-propensity evidence, but “I would have to say based on what I observed today that Justice Aldrich is squarely on the side of the prosecution. Justice Klein though getting a little impatient with Dennis during the Lintermoot discussion, I guess she felt he was repetitive, did grill the AG on the 5 women and how highly prejudicial they were in the case and also the Doctrine of Chances. Justice Kitching said very little.

That's Why They Call it Holidays

Tonight I wrote a song with Matt for Soul Survivor. Then I chatted to him and Beck for a while. That was nice.

I came home. Everyone was asleep. It was 11:30pm. I watched an episode of The Wire.

Then I was hungry and I had one episode of The Wire left, ever. So I went to McDonald's, came home, and watched the episode. I'll write about the show later. The food hit the spot. I spilt some tomato sauce on my jeans.

Now it's 2:50am. And I'm probably going to go to bed.

And I'm happy. I can stay up late, watch TV and eat McDonald's whenever I want, because I'm a grown up and I'm on holidays.

Life is good.

Wisdom's Back

Just in time for Soul Survivor and the sex talk, it's a brand old Wisdom with Tabitha. Enjoy.

Comrade Jesus Christ

Revolution Shirt.jpg

I bought this t-shirt from Etiko the other day. It arrived this morning. I quite like it, but wearing it makes me feel like I'm on mission for a University Christian group. If I wasn't so theologically conservative I feel like I could wear it and people would say "Wow, yeah, Jesus was the ultimate socialist." However now I feel like I'm a conservative co-opting Jesus from the communists.

Still, I like the shirt.

Be All You Can Be

I just saw this ad on Facebook:

Army Ad.jpg

Defence Force ads annoy me. Because they're like "Come join the Defence Force, have fun, make a difference, save some lives, help in disasters..." But they neglect to mention killing people.

This ad does the same thing:

It seems dumb to me that the main job of the Defence Force, as far as I can tell, is to be better killing people than the people who might want to kill us (whether they're in our country, we're in theirs or we're both in a third country). I know that's a really simplistic view, but they don't carry guns and buy bombs for nothing. The ads just don't say what it's all about.

It'd be like being asked to work at Maccas and they say "Wear a uniform, clean some tables, operate a drive-thru" but no one mentions that the main reason why you're there is to sell burgers.

Still I guess death isn't a really attractive selling point. Or if they did use death as a selling point the kind of people it attracted might not be the kind of people the Defence Force wants.

This ad was a little more honest, back in the day. We used to sing a song in school to tune from the ad it went:

"Join the Army get your head blown off,
Doesn't matter if it's hard or soft."

They should have hired us to do their recruiting.

Facebook and Teenagering

facebook_logo.png

It was Facebook night tonight at youth group. We spent most of the night running around Hornsby trying to catch people pretending to be drug dealers. They were particularly bad drug dealers because they posted clues about their whereabouts on Facebook every few minutes. Despite that, one of the drug dealers managed to stay uncaught anyway. So good on them.

I didn’t get to go hunting though because I needed to monitor base camp and be ready to go out in my ambulance car if there were any emergencies. There weren’t. I also had to stay back and work on my talk. I had virtually no time to work on the talk this week, so it was feeling like a bit of a mess.

Despite my lack of preparedness I had a lot to say. I ended up with a 20-25 minute talk rather than the 10 minutes I had to give it in. I edited a lot.

What struck me this week is how concerned parents are about Facebook. At the beginning of the term we let the parents know what we were speaking on, and each week I’d send an email. No one has said anything about any topic, until this week when suddenly parents were wanting to know what I was saying about Facebook. I guess the concern is that Facebook is a vast world that they can’t control. And the dangers are huge for teenagers. You have issues of bullying, cyber-stalking, inappropriate relationships being formed, inappropriate photos being posted, and then kids just doing things which are generally dumb.

The potential audience for dumbness is massive.

One of the illustrations I did was got the youth to imagine they were in a hall and in that hall was everyone they know, parents, friends, enemies, youth leaders, siblings, teachers, everyone. And then to imagine that also in the room is everyone that everyone they know knows.

Then I got one of the male youth leaders up and got him to put on a bikini (over his clothes). Everyone thought it was very amusing, which it was.

Then I asked the girls to imagine how they would feel if they were standing in that hall, in front of all those people, in their bikini. Awkward. Embarrassed. Uncomfortable.

The boys I then pointed out they they’re likely to do dumb things like get in bikinis too. Of if I had an older audience I would have mentioned getting drunk, and doing dumb stuff at parties. Getting naked. The only naked photos I’ve seen on Facebook are of guys. And we probably don’t want everyone seeing how dumb we are.

The point was when you stick photos of yourself on Facebook, when you make comments on Facebook, when you post stuff, you have a potential audience of thousands. And the maths backs me up.

If you have your privacy settings on Facebook as Facebook recommends the you will have photos you post and photos of you set to be able to be seen by ‘Friends of Friends’.

If you are an average Facebook user, you’ll have 120 friends.

Now say my friend Bill takes a photo of me and posts it on Facebook, and he has his photo settings to ‘Friends of Friends’ too, then with just first degree friends, on average each photo has a potential audience of 240 people.

But because the photo is set to ‘Friends of Friends’ assuming Bill and I have no mutual friends, and none of our mutual friends have mutual friends (extremely unlikely, but it’ll make it easier for the maths) then the potential audience for the photo of me that Bill took jumps from 240 people to 28,800 people (if my maths is right). That is a lot of people.

So if you do something dumb on Facebook, the potential audience for your stuff up is huge.

I think the issue is probably bigger for girls. Guys can do dumb stuff and not too many people will be interested, but we live in a culture that expects girls to be sexy. So sticking photos of yourself in your swimmers or underwear on Facebook is a huge temptation. And if you do that boys (and men) are going to look, and friends of friends are going to look. And there are potentially thousands of people who will look at photos of unsuspecting teenage girls posing on Facebook who didn’t think things through.

The point of my talk tonight was, while Facebook offers us the ability to create a custom built identity and community, it won’t be able to live up to its promise. In Jesus however, we are given an identity that is not created online, is not subject to whether people ‘like’ it or not, it does not get better or worse with our successes and failures online and offline. It is safe and secure in the by the work of Jesus on the cross. And we are brought into a community, a holy nation, a royal priesthood and family of God. And that community is not made up of people you have a loose connection to, it’s made up of people who are your brothers and sisters. In Jesus we have an identity and community that is safe, secure and very healthy.

With that in mind, our difference means that we must live differently. I encouraged the youth to live differently because they are different; to treat Facebook not as a tool to shore up their identity and community but as a tool to love God and love others and to help others love God and love each other.

As Christians, I think if we could grasp that our salvation in Jesus affects our whole life, and our character and identity is shaped by Jesus in every aspect of our lives, we wouldn’t need to have think hard about whether our silly choices in the physical world are going to end up online. Our integrity of life would mean that whatever ended up online from what happened offline would fit in with our character online and offline. It would fit in with the character we portray to our parents, friends, family, teachers, bosses, work mates and perfect strangers.

Social networking puts an end to the double life of the Sunday Christian. Instead of making us stress about what goes online, it should keep us accountable in all our life because anything could go online. It should help us live lives of integrity in every facet of life.

That said my experience of teenagers is that integrity of character isn’t always first priority. Not because they don’t value integrity. In fact I think teenagers value integrity more than many adults. Teenagers seem less willing to accept the duplicity and hypocrisy of daily life that grown ups take as par for the course.

However teenagers are still working out who they are. They aren’t asking “How do I make sure I live consistently in all areas of life?” because they are still asking “Who am I? How should I live?” When they know who they are, then they can work at living consistently. Are they the one who drinks on the weekends, the one who obeys the rules, the one who rebels, who is selfless, who is ambitious, who is seductive, who is reserved, who is fun, who is funny, who is thoughtful, who is kind? They’ll test the various aspects of their character they find coming out to see what fits. They’ll ask, what brings peace, what brings comfort, what brings happiness. When they find the character traits that fit then they’ll start asking questions about integrity.

So back to Facebook, when teenagers are discovering and forming their character, Facebook becomes a vast stage for them to test their boundaries, and discover their character and having a couple of hundred people there they can give you instant feed back about the character you’re building. And while this can be potentially harmless, it can also be very detrimental. Facebook can be a permanent record of unthinking moments. One dumb Saturday night, which in the past could be forgotten or just remembered by the few who had to carry you home, can be kept for posterity, a permanent witness that people, friends and strangers are going to interpret however they want, and most won’t interpret the night in light of lessons learnt and character built.

I guess all this musing really just leads me to conclude that we need to be helping teenagers use Facebook well. We need to encourage them to live with integrity. To be living out the character traits of who they want to be rather than who they are discovering they are.

I think older people need to be feeding back online and offline to younger people about what they value in them and what they appreciate, so that they can form a character that isn’t just shaped by the feedback of their peers, which while important will only be one perspective.

Christian teenagers need to be taught to have their identity and community thoroughly grounded in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus so that they can live differently out of that reality. If that can happen, not matter what happens online, no matter what mistakes they make, no matter what dumbness they do, they will have something deeper to hold onto, a way of living that stems from something other than just peer opinion and a character that is rooted in an identity that goes beyond any social network.

The question is though, how do we do that?

EVEN JOE FRANCIS LAWYER SURPRISED AT DEFENSE VERDICT

Multi-millionare Girls Gone Wild producer Joe Francis
Joe Francis, the moronic yet financially successful producer of the “Girl’s Gone Wild” video series pulled one out of a tailspin in a Florida courtroom today when a civil jury exonerated the millionaire, who left town on his own private jet. Francis represented himself during the trial until he accused two of the 18 year old plaintiffs (who were underage when Francis filmed them acting, well, wild) of being “prostitutes”, whereupon the judge fined Francis $2,500 and terminated his right to represent himself--ironically saving Francis from himself. Enter Francis’s attorneys, who somehow managed to pull off a defense verdict—which even surprised THEM. The money quote:

"I was very surprised because it's not often that you find a jury that actually follows the law”, Francis’s counselor remarked.

Another Song writer on the rise…..Say hello to "Lyrica Anderson"

After branding Keri Hilson Timberland has decided to brand another son writer. This artist/songwriter name is Lyrica Anderson, who have wrote songs for artist like Beyonce, KeKe Palmer, Mya, Chris Brown and Jennifer Lopez. Just like Keri Lyrica has been featured on Timbaland new track called "Mentally." I am not really feeling this track at all. Reminds me too much of “The way you are” with Keri on hook. But maybe it will grow on me, because I like Timbo music, well most of it.

Like must up coming artist Lyrica has been exposed to music from a very young age.

"Music has always been in my blood…my mom used to tour with Chaka Khan, Luther Vandross and Tina Turner doing backup vocals, I’d pretty much be lost without music," says Lyrica. (SingersRoom.com)

With a best friend like Lyrica, I can see why actress Meagan Good thought she should take the artist route. But right now she needs to support Lyrica, since she is the musician of the pack. Lyrica has high hopes and would like to follow in the footsteps of many before her. Time can only tell! She is a very pretty girl and has the looks most labels want, so now all she needs to do is find her OWN style.

JILL SCOTT and EVE we missed that Philly Vibe!

Jill Scott is finally back, with a funky new single entitled "Shame" featuring Eve. We have been missing this Philly vibration for a while and I am glad both Jill and Eve did this female empowerment song to step back on the scene. Jill Scott goes back to her neighborhood to showcase here music and shoot a video from places she is familiar with. The video was shot in the Cecil B. Moore Recreation Center gym. This was a personal shoot for Jill because the rec center was reported to be closing and demolished. Being the kind hearted person that she is she decided to do the video there. Jill even reached into her pockets and revamped the center with a new roof, gym floors, and more!

Jill says, “When I found out it was closing, it just hurt my feelings because kids like me needed a place to go. We just started to really take care of this facility because we don’t want it to shut down. Every community needs a rec center. I put a lot of my love and my heart here.”

Jill Scott's forthcoming album "The Light of the Sun" is due out later this year, which leaves me with high expectations sine she has been gone for a while. Looking glamorous and stunting her stuff like a true diva Jill sure looks ready to step back into the scene. Next is Eve, which is also looking good. The game misses both of these Philly’s leading ladies. I just pray the people are missing them too!

Can Mary J. Blige really duplicate her Album "My Life?"

Mary J. Blige does it again. I am feeling this new track "Someone to Love Me (Naked)" produced by Jerry Wonda. With the reggae vibe story telling feel, Mary stresses she looking for someone to love her and her faults. For those who don't understand the track think about Dawn Penn "No, No, No..you don't love me, yes I know now." That is the route Mary took, but on a Hip-Hop R&B tip. My Life II: The Story Continues is due out this year and is suppose to be a newer version of "My Life." To me that album could not be made over, but with Swizz Beatz, Jerry Wonda, Jay-Z, Salaam Remi, Stargate, Maxwell, Alicia Keys, Raphael Saadiq, Kanye West, The Under Dogs, Ester Dean, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Ryan Leslie, Bangladesh, Johnta Austin, Eric Hudson, Q-Tip, DJ Premier, Gorilla Tek, Don Pooh, Ne-Yo and Drumma Boy all helping on this album anything is possible. Mary never lefts me down, but "My Life" was a deep album in her dark moments. So we will see what will take place now. Rumors are flying about her and her hubby, so maybe her energy will go into album. It's really no surprise Mary and hubby may be divorcing. He looked like he was using her and even secretly controlling her while he cheats. But I won't get into that too much, I just can't wait for new album due out September 20, 2011.

“From me to you, My Life II… Our journey together continues in this life,” explained Mary. “It’s a gift to be able to relate and identify with my fans at all times. This album is a reflection of the times and lives of people all around me.” -Mary J. Blige

PLEASE these Toepeners are need badly!!!!

No matter where you are and who you are public bathrooms is a person’s worst nightmare. However at the end of the day when you have to go, you just have to go. One thing I hated was when I washed my hands and there are no paper towels. This leaves you to use toilet paper. I hate using toilet paper so I normally air dry, but air drying takes forever and standing in a nasty bathroom waiting was definitely a hell no to me.

Strolling threw the internet I came across a new invention on Gizmodo called The Toepener. This invention probably was thought up by many people, but for it to be real is crazy. This is just another mini gadget us clean people will appreciate. This new gadget will allow you to open a public restroom door with a step of the foot. No touch handles or wasting paper just to open the bathroom door. So at $50 a pop, I feel these companies need to spend a little and invest. For wheel chair folks, hopefully they have help because this gadget will not be helpful at all.

Now, with this nice invention an alarm or a mini reminder needs to create for you nasty people that “forget” to wash your hands after stepping away from the urinal. This need o be do even for the ones that leave tampons, pads and diapers just about anywhere in the rest room.

Cam'ron's Killer Female Fashion Advice

Cam’ron is the man that let it be known that real men wear pink and he also represented the swagger and style of the Harlem streets. Well today Cam'ron let’s the women know that looks are not everything; you also have to have style and a sense of fashion. If you are worth it he might take the time and money to be your sponsor, which a lot of women would love that dream to come true. Cam gives a few Don’ts that make A LOT of sense. A lot of women think that name brand is everything, well guess what it is not. It’s all about how your sense of fashion is put together to fit you. Everyone has their own sense of style, but knowing what fits you best is the route a lot of people need to go.

If you don’t know about Harlem, the men over there are VERY picky. That’s why women over there go EXTRA hard to look good. I mean that’s a New York thing period, but Harlem steps the bar up extra high. So for Cam to do this to let some women know is an A+.

Check out a couple of Cam's DON'Ts:

1. "I don't care for a Steve Madden shoe." (Yes because for a big foot girl like me those narrow ass shows give me blisters, while my shoes from Bare feet are nice and comfy. On top of that they have 10’s and 11’s.)
2. "I don't care for Coach. We will not go to the movies if you have Coach." (This is funny because a lot of people probably don’t get it.)

3. "I don't like all red toenail polish. It makes me think you're 72 years old. I prefer a nice French manicure. I like a French mani or lime green. Red toenail polish makes me think your Louise Jefferson." (LMAO to this one, that’s what I am talking bout who wears Red nail polish, my moms who is 50 wears red nail polish. I don’t know what it is, but red or burgendy never hve floated my boat; Maybe in the near future when I am 50, but not now. I know a few, I mean a few women who can rock it and still look fashionable, but 24/7 nah that is not cute at all. So I am glad he mentioned it.)

4. "I don't like feet … no homo. I'll get you some clean socks if you come in my house and your feet stink. Your feet have to be impeccable for me to like them. I'm not a feet dude… not at all." (Man he so Harlem!)

5. "I don't really like heels in the room because you could get hurt." (I really don’t get it niether because they going to come off anyway. I mean unless you are wearing them for a little strip tease. Having sex with heels on to me is stupid.)
"There are girls that could be crazy good but their swag messes up everything!"-Cam'ron

So ladies as you see Cam is the type who got to know you first, then if he likes you he would doll you up, because outside of that he will never set eyes on you at all. Which in most cases is the problem with a lot of men, they too busy looking at the style that it over looks the brain. Now everyman does not have the same taste so this may not apply to everyone. Just know looking a hot mess and wearing just about anything is not cute. Take the time to doll yourself up and be sure not to over do it.

R. Kelly releasing book called "Soulacoaster"

The R. Kelly Kings plans on releasing a book entitled "Soulacoaster". In a slight twist, The Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter said "I’m writing this book as Robert, not R. Kelly."

Kelly has endured a number of personal and business setbacks throughout his career including criminal cases, divorce, Jay-Z beef, and radio blacklist but he has still continued to be herald as one of the greatest recording artist of his generation. In the forthcoming biography, he believes he can provide full insight into his life stating, "I'm tired of being misunderstood. I will show you the tears, fears, and sweat. I will open my heart and reveal the good in my life as well as all the drama. I want to tell it like it is."

Kelly wrote the book with the aid of celebrity author David Ritz. The book has been described as "Part memoir, part keepsake; "Soulacoaster" unlocks the door to R. Kelly’s story as only he can tell it, promising his fans an intimate and unforgettable ride."

All I got to say is I hope he REALLY keeps it 100, I mean we would like to hear the truth!

For real Jemaine Jackson, you owe child support!!! "I'm not rich like Michael was."

Jermaine Jackson may find himself in the slammer or have all his things auctioned off for cash if he doesn’t follow a new court order, which requires him to pay $80,000 in back child support to ex-wife Alejandra Jackson.

In the terms of the settlement, Jermaine must fork over a $5,000 cashiers check by April 4, $15,000 by April 8, $20,000 by April 13 and $40,000 by May 13.

Jermaine is still not happy with the proceedings, insisting paying the huge amount is a financial burden for him. He adds, "I'm not rich like Michael was."

"The problem is she's been living in the Havenhurst house for 18 years. She has never once paid a bill,” Jermaine says about the reason why he shouldn’t pay the bill.

His revoked driver’s license will be reinstated after he pays the initial $5,000.

My thoughts:
For real out of all people he is back on child support? Sometimes I feel celebrities forget they are normal and have to deal with real life issues. To make it worst having a celeb status gives drama no matter what level you are at. "More Money, More Problems Jermaine out of all people should know this. No matter the issue and what his belief is the child needs to be taken care of, why do men forget who knows. He states that he's not rich like Michael was, but if he new this having babies and trying to have that MJ swag should have not happen. You know you not balling like Michael and now that he is gone you really broke, Why do what you wanna do??? He better pay up or them Jail boys going to have a ball questioning him for real. But my question is how does he maintain his plastic look?

Jet Boating

Jet Boat.jpg

Last Sunday it was my sister Hannah's 16th birthday. It was a big day!

Dad and Hannah were going to be going out on a sailing boat thing. Sailing for the Disabled or something. However the weather meant they couldn't go, the sailing trip had to be postponed.

Still Dad decided that Hannah couldn't turn sixteen without a trip on the water, it is after all an important Australian rite of passage, that sixteenth birthday boating trip. So Dad booked him and her onto one of those jet boats that fly around Sydney Harbour so you can see all the sights at ultra high speeds while vomiting over the side or into the face of the person behind you.

However because Dad doesn't really like vomiting, eating other people's vomit or sight seeing, he thought I might be more interested. I was, I'm not a fan of vomit, but jet boats sound fun. So I was going to be Hannah's chaperone.

In the afternoon Mum, Dad and Hannah had a birthday lunch of fish and chips then picked me up after my Sunday afternoon shop for socks and undies (three pairs of undies, five pairs of socks! Hooray!) and we headed down to Sydney Harbour.

When we arrived at Circular Quay, Hannah didn't seem that excited about going on a boat. She seemed to be more interested in dancing the conga and listening to didgeridoo. I think perhaps she saw the boat and was disappointed it wasn't a real jet boat. She was expecting something with afterburners. It just wasn't hardcore enough for her.

Still we tried to convince her. No luck.

"Hannah we're going to go on a boat! Let's go have fun on the boat!"

"No no boat! Bye bye boat!"

No matter how hard we tried, Hannah wouldn't come. We kept trying right up until it was time to step on to the boat. But it wasn't going to happen.

At the last minute Dad subbed in for Hannah and went on the boat with me. Mum and Hannah stayed on the land and waved us good bye while Dad and I went jet boating for Hannah's birthday. It was good fun. No one vomitted so I think Hannah was right in not going, it certainly wouldn't have been crazy enough for her. But for pansys like Dad and I, it was pretty good fun. Plus I think Dad got to go at disability rates. That's my Dad, always scamming the system.

After the boat we had and ice cream which Hannah liked.

Maybe next birthday we'll find a jet boat with afterburners for Hannah. Or I'm hoping perhaps Dad and I get to go sky diving for Hannah's birthday or something.

Nyyce

It's almost 3am. That's because I've been watching The Wire.

Oh yeah. That's what I'm talkin' about.
